Written and Produced by Annabella Leonetti, "From Ashes" tells the story of Shiva, a young transmasculine writer, who returns to their hometown and retreats to a secluded lakehouse to finish a screenplay. As a figure from their past emerges, they must confront and destroy it, igniting a reckoning that will burn away who they were and reveal who they are meant to become.

SYNOPSIS:

Years after transitioning, Shiva, a transmasculine writer, returns to their small hometown to clean out their late mother’s house. Struggling with drinking and a lingering sense of shame over their work, and feeling disconnected from friends and family, they retreat to a secluded lakehouse to focus on a long-stalled screenplay. But as isolation deepens, Shiva begins sensing a presence—someone from their past haunting them. Alone and increasingly paranoid, they must confront the shadowy figure, forcing a reckoning with their past, their identity, and the life they’ve tried to escape.
